Assemblyman Juan Alanis has expressed his gratitude towards Speaker Rivas for establishing the new Select Committee on Distressed Hospitals. In a statement, Alanis said, "I want to thank Speaker Rivas for establishing the new Select Committee on Distressed Hospitals. I also appreciate being appointed to serve on this critical Select Committee."

Alanis emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, "With safety-net hospitals shutting down and others at risk, especially in rural California, it’s clear we must take action immediately." He highlighted the potential consequences of hospital closures on income insecure regions and low-income communities across the state.

The assemblyman underscored the importance of supporting essential hospitals that cater to Californians on Medi-Cal and Medicaid, saying, "This committee must move to support these essential hospitals, which provide vital care to Californians on Medi-Cal and Medicaid in particular."

Alanis expressed his enthusiasm for collaborating with the committee and its Chair, Assemblymember Esmerelda Soria, to address the challenges faced by distressed hospitals. He stated, "I look forward to working with the committee and its Chair, a fellow Central Valley Assemblymember, Esmerelda Soria (D-Fresno), to tackle the challenges these hospitals face and help ensure everyone in California has access to critical healthcare services."

Assemblymember Juan Alanis represents the 22nd Assembly District, encompassing various communities in California, including Modesto, Turlock, Ceres, and Patterson.
